Pilots have a statutory obligation to comply with aviation regulation, which includes adherence to flight procedures within the AIP.
Further to this compliance, Weston Executive Airport is asking pilots to support the airport’s Fly Neighbourly Programme. In this regard, airport authorities are mindful of the fact that pilots best know how to operate their aircraft so that they create the least amount of noise.
Voluntary fly neighbourly procedures are not intended to interfere or supersede safety considerations, good judgement, or IAA regulations.
As part of the Fly Neighbourly Programme, Weston Airport’s management are educating pilots and controllers on the noise issue and ways they can assist the airport in minimising noise as much as is practical. These efforts are intended to expand pilot participation in the programme.
An important aspect of the Fly Neighbourly Programme is monitoring and reporting. All noise complaints are followed up. A periodic report on noise complaints is posted on this website.
The noise-monitoring programme includes:
- The collection of noise data from noise monitoring equipment
- Monitoring of aircraft operations using activity sampling techniques
- A report is periodically compiled, reviewed by the airport’s noise committee and posted on the airport’s website
